Detroit Tigers Game 3: What to Expect

As mentioned in Shannon's Scoop today, the Detroit Tigers take on the Cleveland Guardians for game 3 at home!

Today marks Game 3 for the Detroit Tigers in their ongoing series against the Cleveland Guardians. The game is set to take place right here in Detroit at 3:08 PM. But, if you're heading to the game, the fun starts early!

The pregame festivities include a block party that kicks off at noon, just outside the stadium. Expect food trucks, a draft beer trailer, and plenty of excitement. And if you're looking to grab some post-season gear, you're in luck. There will be merchandise for sale along with live entertainment from local DJs, face painters, airbrush artists, and even a 360-degree camera setup.

Once the gates open at 1 PM, the action moves inside the stadium, where fans can enjoy a brand-new fall menu. Some highlights? Coney-inspired pierogies, cider and doughnuts, al pastor tacos, Tigers Red Hots topped with Flamin’ Hot Cheetos, and festive cocktails served in branded pumpkins. Perfect for a fall day at the ballpark!

As if today wasn’t busy enough, tomorrow will be even more packed! Game 4 of the Tigers’ series takes place at 6:08 PM, and guess what? The Detroit Red Wings will also have their home opener the same evening. To accommodate this, the Red Wings have moved their game’s start time to 8 PM, allowing fans to catch both games if they’re up for a double-header of sports action!

What is veganism?
Veganism is a way of living which seeks to exclude, as far as is possible and practicable, all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing or any other purpose. - The Vegan Society
In other words, vegans try to avoid using or consuming any products that come from animals. This includes things like meat, dairy, eggs, honey, leather, wool, silk, and cosmetics that have been tested on animals. Some vegans also avoid using products that contain animal-derived ingredients, such as sugar that has been whitened with bone char or certain types of alcohol that are filtered with fish bladders.

Why go vegan?
There are many reasons why someone might choose to go vegan. For some people, it's a ethical decision based on the belief that all animals deserve to be treated with respect and compassion. For others, it's a health decision. Still others do it for environmental reasons. Or sometimes it's a combination of all three! Whatever the reason, more and more people are choosing to ditch animal products in favor of vegan alternatives.

What about World Vegan Month?
World Vegan Month is an annual event that celebrates veganism and raises awareness of the many benefits of a vegan lifestyle. It was founded by Louise Wallis in 1994 and is now celebrated in over 50 countries around the world. Detroit Vegan Soul is a family of restaurants offering flavorful, 100% plant-based soul food to vegans and non-vegans alike in a welcoming environment. They have two locations at 8029 Agnes St. in Detroit or 19614 Grand River Ave.

The Inn Season Cafe was started in 1981. They serve a vegetarian-vegan plant based menu. All of their food is prepared in-house with ingredients from the local farming community.  While their main location is temporary closed, they do have a carryout space available for you to pick up your order! Seva Restaurant is a vegetarian restaurant that offers many vegan options as well as gluten-free options. They have two locations 2541 Jackson Ave in Ann Arbor and 66 E Forest Ave in Detroit.
