It’s crazy to think about this but the original Scary Movie, was released in July of 2000. The parody movie, which the Wayans family became known for, spoofed the stereotypes of horror movies like; Scream, I Know What You Did Last Summer and The Exorcist to name a few.
The first two installments of the movie starred Shawn and Marlon Wayans and was developed by the two and their older brother Keenan Ivory Wayans. Earlier this year during an interview with Shannon Sharpe on Club Shay Shay, Marlon admitted that the family got a bad deal from disgraced Hollywood Producer, Harvey Weinstein, which is why they weren’t featured after the second installment of the series.
The Wayans Brothers Are Returning To Scary Movie Franchise
Yesterday, Marlon Wayans hopped on Instagram and announced that the Wayans Brothers are returning to Scary Movie, franchise.
Production for the new, Scary Movie, which would be the sixth in the series starts next year, with the film hopefully being released in late 2025. In the comment section of the Instagram post above, singer, Lizzo is already campaigning for a role in the new film. And if her Halloween costume is a window to her sense of humor, she’ll most likely do a great job.
The original Scary Movie, was the highest grossing in the series, and it will be interesting to see how the new film does now that the Wayans Brothers are returning the Scary Movie franchise. I have only seen the first two movies, with me being such a big fan of the Wayans family, once they were out, so was I.
Now that it’s official that the Wayans Brothers are returning to Scary Movie franchise, are you excited for Scary Movie 6?!
