Kanye West’s New Album ‘BULLY’ Inspired by Daughter North
On Oct. 23, 2024, Kanye West revealed eye-catching cover art for his first solo project in three years. His newest album, BULLY, showcases raw black-and-white photography by Daido Moriyama, the legendary Japanese artist. Moriyama’s unique photography style defines the visual approach. His rough, honest shots add raw energy to the album’s artwork.
This is West’s first complete album since Donda dropped in 2021. Longtime producer Mike Dean is said to be on board. Following his work on Donda, Dean could bring his signature touch to help craft the new album’s sound.
Ye’s journey back to making music started when his daughter North wanted some beats for her own music project. In a viral video, 10-year-old North showed her growing skills, making beats on an ASR-10. She’s working on Elementary School Dropout—a clever nod to her dad’s breakthrough album, The College Dropout.
“This little girl made me love music again [smiling face with tears emoji]. She asked me to make beats for her,” quoted Marisa Mendez from HipHopDX, referencing an Instagram post by West.
North makes an appearance on this album too. She raps over a fresh version of Dipset’s “I’m Ready,” apparently getting props from Jim Jones himself for her take on the song.
Nightclub crowds in Tokyo have heard pieces of new songs from the album. West, hanging with Justin LaBoy and Jim Jones, played a few tracks from the DJ booth. He says beats from the new album were chopped up by him.
The drop date for BULLY remains secret, but excitement grows around this comeback after West’s three-year break from solo work.
