The first Raising Cane's in Kalamazoo County won't open until January 2026. Construction delays reportedly pushed back the date. The chicken finger chain broke ground in June, hoping to serve customers before this year ended.
A spokesperson confirmed the delay but wouldn't say why, according to WWMT.
The site sits where Milham meets Westnedge in Portage. Workers demolished a former Schlotzky's building to clear space.
Back in February 2024, the company announced it would bring five restaurants to West Michigan within five years. Three locations already serve customers in Ann Arbor, Canton, and East Lansing. Ann Arbor's restaurant opened after construction started in Portage.
A Kentwood location still shows "coming soon" on the company website.
Chick-fil-A runs 28 restaurants across Michigan after its own push into the state. Chicken-focused chains from the South have drawn attention from hungry fans throughout the region.
The chain sells hits like chicken fingers, Cane's sauce, and Texas toast.
The January 2026 date means three extra months past what they promised. No exact day in January has been set.
Raising Cane's uses the slogan "One Love," pointing to its focus on chicken fingers as the star of the menu. Sides include fries and coleslaw.
