Frontier Airlines kicked off five new nonstop routes from Detroit Metro Airport on Nov. 20. Promotional fares start at $29 for trips within the country. Fort Lauderdale service began Thursday, while Houston, Miami, Charlotte, and Cancun flights will start rolling out through Nov. 23.

Florida and Houston routes run three times each week. Charlotte gets two weekly flights. Cancun runs once per week.

Promotional prices put domestic tickets at $29 to start, with Cancun seats going for $110. Blackout dates and restrictions apply. Passengers must buy by 11:59 p.m. on Dec. 3.

"With these new routes, Frontier is making it easier to visit loved ones or plan a quick getaway," said Wayne County Airport Authority CEO Chad Newton in a news release from the airline according to the Detroit Free Press.

A sixth route is planned to launch in February 2026. That future service will link Detroit with New Orleans.

Every destination boasts warmer weather than Michigan, which should appeal to travelers heading into the holiday season. The timing matches up with the busy travel stretch as passengers seek to flee cold temperatures or see relatives.
