The Windsor-Detroit Bridge Authority revealed toll prices on Wednesday. Drivers crossing the Gordie Howe International Bridge will pay based on what they're driving.

Most cars, SUVs, minivans and motorcycles fall into the small or medium category. These pay $5.75 U.S. or $8 Canadianl, as shared by CBS News.

Bigger rigs face different charges. Vehicles stretching past 7.5 feet or 2.3 meters in length get hit with $8.75 U.S. or $12 Canadian. Passenger buses fit here, and so do pickups hauling fifth-wheelers. Towing a small trailer? Strapping something on top? You may need to pay more.

Users of the Breakaway electronic toll payment tag system catch a break. Discounts apply whether you prepay or set up a business account.

This new crossing becomes the third way across the Detroit River between the two cities. The prices undercut existing options by a wide margin. The Ambassador Bridge charges $10 U.S. cash or E-ZPass for passenger vehicles. The Detroit-Windsor tunnel costs $9 U.S. cash. The Gordie Howe Bridge isn't as expensive

Lanes split traffic by type. Trucks and oversized loads get their own dedicated paths at the entrances. Commercial haulers likely won't mix with passenger cars.

Canada is paying for construction and plans to recover that money through tolls.

Workers are testing systems now. The toll setup is part of that process. Officials haven't locked down an opening date but are shooting for early 2026.
