Janet Jackson has drastically impacted American pop culture. The pop icon is the youngest of 10 brothers and sisters and began her career performing alongside her talented siblings at MGM Grand back in 1974. She signed with A&M Records in 1982 but it was her third and fourth albums — Control (1986) and Rhythm Nation 1814 (1989) that elevated her to stardom.

Janet began to control her narrative with those album releases as she cut ties with Joe Jackson, her father. The pop icon teamed up with songwriting and producing duo Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, who were essential in propelling her career to newfound heights and helped her to become one of the greatest performers of all time. Janet is a five-time Grammy award winner who has influenced an entire generation with her legacy.
