What up Detroit?! I’m Zannie K. Don’t laugh – That’s my REAL NAME. It’s from the African word ZHANE. It means “he who goes first“.
Born and raised in Chicago, I’m the oldest of five. Radio was all I ever wanted to do so after college (Southern University & Central State University both HBCUs) I pursued my radio career full force. My radio roots started in Muskegon, MI. I’ve also worked in many cities before landing in Detroit, like Memphis, Miami and Minneapolis …and those are just the “M” cities!
I’m a husband and proud father of 3 happy, healthy young men: Keanu, Quentin & Devin. I’m a huge sports fan (especially basketball, football, boxing & baseball)! I love watching movies and have a special place in my heart for the movies that star rappers turned actors like 8 Mile, Bad Boys and Get Rich or Die Trying. I am extremely passionate about grilling… It’s NEVER a bad day to be on the grill and I’m a year-round testament to that.
I am extremely overjoyed to finally call “The D” my home, as I have pursued work in this great city for many years. Be sure to check me out weekdays 3pm to 7pm on “The Loudmouth in the BOUNCE HOUSE” on 105.1 The BOUNCE!
I was born & raised in the Metro-Detroit area and have loved music my entire life. I pretty much grew up on the lawn at Pine Knob! I’ve had so much FUN in music with a decades long career in radio as a Marketing & Promotions Director. I then went on to book entertainment & manage concerts before returning to my love for radio.
I am a proud single mom of two daughters Madison, 20, & Lauren, 13, which keeps me busy! I am also a breast cancer survivor which truly taught me to live in the present, appreciate all of the small & big things in life, & to enjoy life always!
In my free time, I love spending time with friends. I try to live a healthy lifestyle as much as possible including working out & being outdoors in nature. I guess you could call me the hip-hop hippie! I enjoy hiking, camping, & backpacking. You will also catch me dancing just about EVERY day! Especially Latin dancing like salsa.
I am very grateful for the opportunity to join 105.1 The Bounce & to bring you FUN with Zannie K. It’s really AMAZING to connect with you, our listeners, that I consider friends!
