Childish Gambino Will Only Do One More Album
At the Governor’s Ball, Childish Gambino, AKA Donald Glover announced he’d be doing his “last Gambino album.”
According to Pitchfork, at the Governor’s Ball, while performing a rare live set, he ended the set playing “Redbone” off of ‘Awaken, My Love’ and said “I’ll see you for the last Gambino album.”
Judging by Donald Glover’s upcoming schedule, which includes playing the young version of Lando Calrissian in the Star Wars Han Solo Prequel, as well as playing Simba in Disney’s The Lion King remake, he’s got a lot on his plate.
Something to also consider, though we don’t peg Gambino as someone who runs from a challenge: When ‘Awaken, My Love’ was released, Glover was skewered by the critics. We have to wonder if Glover’s choice to step away from music has anything to do with the negative acceptance of his newest album. It could also have to do with the fact that anyone who looks to Childish Gambino for music is hoping for another Because The Internet, which is not going to happen due to the natural progression of Glover’s talents and beliefs.
Either way, we can’t wait to see what’s in store, both for Gambino and Glover, in his respective split personalities.
