Kendrick Lamar recently sat down with Billboard Magazine to talk about his inspirations behind his visuals.
The Grammy-Award winning rapper cites Missy Elliott and Busta Rhymes as the artists he patterns his videos after. Kendrick event tweeted Missy about his fondness of her, to which she responded:

His childhood friend, Dave aka “Free” from the Little Homies serves as his partner when it comes to creating the visuals but, K. Dot also gave major props to Dave Mays who he says was a ”big influence..Dave Meyers is that guy.”
