Disney Fires ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy 3’ James Gunn Over Offensive Tweets
Well, this is upsetting.
James Gunn, the director of ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ has deleted his Twitter account after since being fired over offensive tweets that contained jokes about pedophilia and rape.
The tweets were found from long ago are since wiped from the internet, but were from the time stamps of 2008-2011.
The statement from Disney is as follows, according to Vulture:
“The offensive attitudes and statements discovered on James’ Twitter feed are indefensible and inconsistent with our studio’s values, and we have severed our business relationship with him,” Walt Disney Studios chairman Alan Horn said in a statement.
Before deleting his account, he is quoted saying the following:
“Many people who have followed my career know when I started, I viewed myself as a provocateur, making movies and telling jokes that were outrageous and taboo. As I have discussed publicly many times, as I’ve developed as a person, so has my work and my humor.”
Guess Disney isn’t taking that for an answer, and the third installment of ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ will have a new director.
