Marlon Wayans Claps Back At Followers Who Criticized Him For Supporting Gay Daughter
June is Pride month for the LGBTQ community, and actor Marlon Wayans took to Instagram to show support of his gay daughter on Monday, but unfortunately the actor received some backlash from some of his followers.
“Happy pride to my pride and joy. I wouldn’t change one effing thing about you. Love you to the moon around the sun through the galaxies and back again,” Wayans wrote in his caption.
One Instagram user commented, “She’s not old enough to understand what that’s really about. You have the power to change lives Bro, don’t teach her that.”
Wayans then replied,”She’s 19. She’s who she is until or until she don’t choose different. Love her for her not what I want her to be.”
Another one of Wayans’ followers commented with criticism. “You think if you support her you are good???Being a parent is not about saying yes to everything no you need to say yes on the good things only now just one question if you really support her would you give up being a grandfather because of this stupid decision that she made because as last as remember two girls can’t make a baby,” the user named @3mdh5 said.
Wayans then replied, “There’s technology and I got the means..So thank u shallow f*cker. Go hate your own kids.”
The Shade Room captured the exchange (check it out below).
Although, the actor and comedian received some criticism and backlash for supporting his daughter, he also received some love and support.
Actress Gabrielle Union, who also has a step-son who is gay, left a myriad of hearts underneath Wayans’ photo.
Another Instagram user wrote, “You’re a great father! If more fathers were like you the world be a better place!”
Another person also said, “This is beautiful, your daughter is blessed to have a parent like you.”
