John Singleton’s Family Hires P.I. To Investigate Suspicions Surrounding His Death
Director John Singleton’s family has reportedly hired a personal investigator to look into the circumstances surrounding the iconic filmmaker’s death.
The hours leading up to Singleton’s hospitalization, which essentially led to his death are unclear, and his family wants answers, according to TMZ.
In April, Singleton reportedly checked himself into a hospital after suffering a massive stroke. The director’s family isn’t certain how exactly he got to the hospital because they say that he didn’t drive himself nor did any of his friends, family, or loved ones.
There also isn’t any indication that Singleton used an Uber or Lyft to arrive at the hospital. According to TMZ, the hospital staff reportedly told Singleton’s family that the director just “appeared out of nowhere” in a wheelchair.
Singleton’s loved ones believe that there might be more to the story and would like to learn what he did prior to arriving at the hospital. They also would like to know if whatever he did prior to arriving at the hospital was somewhat related to his death.
They believe that someone might have known about his health condition and could have done something earlier to assist the director.
As previously reported, the filmmaker known for directing iconic films such as Boyz N the Hood and Poetic Justice, passed on April 28, after enduring a stroke. Singleton was in a coma, at the time of his death, until his family decided to take him off life support.
In other news regarding the famed director, Singleton’s mother is currently reportedly seeking legal authority to make decisions regarding the director’s estate and “restore order” after some of Singleton’s belongings were allegedly stolen from his home.
Singleton’s mother, Sheila Ward filed an emergency petition to garner control of Singleton’s estate. She initially attempted to become executor in April, a few days after Singleton was hospitalized.
Ward believes that Singleton’s belongings were locked up in his office at home and that the “third party” who took the items had keys to the director’s house, reports TMZ.
According to The Blast, Ward claims that Singleton’s items were “distributed without authorization,” and she wants to become an administrator of Singleton’s estate until the courts make a final decision over who should take control.
Prior to Singleton’s death, Ward was reportedly his business manager. Singleton did have a will in place and his oldest daughter, Justice will be inheriting his estate, which is valued at over $3.5 million.
