Kandi Burruss Confirms Xscape Will Be Back With One Final Album
There’s very exciting news for fans of the R&B group Xscape who are known for their hits like “Who Can I Run To,” “Just Kickin’ It,” “My Little Secret,” “Understanding,” and “The Arms of the One Who Loves You.”
Kandi Burruss, Tiny Harris, and Latocha and Tamika Scott will be uniting to record one last album for the group who emerged in the ’90s with their soulful and funky sound.
Burruss recently confirmed the news that Xscape fans have been waiting to hear ever since the harmonious group reunited in 2017 and trekked the nation on a critically acclaimed reunion tour.
After accepting the Urban Music Icon Award at the 2019 Black Music Honors, Burrus discussed the last album on her web show “My Name Is Kandi.”
The singer, songwriter, and entrepreneur shared a story about how her mother, Joyce got up on stage during the Black Music Honors and said that she has one last wish and that it is for Xscape to record “one more album together.”
“We had a full entire house of people. Not to mention TV cameras, so I’m not going to say no to that. My mama’s only wish. Turn down my mama? Her only wish at a moment when we’re getting the Icon award and I am the only hold-up. So of course, I was like okay. We’re going to make this happen, even if it’s just for one album. but how we’re gonna make it happen is the question,” Burruss said.
“I would love to write the majority of the album,” Burruss continues before bursting into laughter. “It’s not about me. I’m not trying to sing all of the songs and all that. That’s not what it is. Lyrics. Melodies. Songs. Even if I’m not writing them all, I want to pick them. I want to A&R.”
