Tekashi 6ix9ine Receives Mass Criticism For ‘Snitching’ And ‘Playing A Gangster’
Rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine was recently warned to stop “picking and choosing” when he wanted to play the role of a “gangster.”
The rapper, whose given name is Daniel Hernandez, detailed his attempts to moonlight as a Nine Trey Gangsta Blood when he appeared in court as a prosecution witness against his alleged former crew, as Page Six reports.
“Stopping picking and choosing when you wanna be gangster when you show up and deal with a situation,” texted Anthony “Harv” Ellison, an alleged member who’s on trial for racketeering.
Although the 23-year-old rapper has repped the Bloods in his music, that wasn’t necessarily Hernandez’s reality.
Back in April 2018, 6ix9ine united with his former associates to rob a rival rapper’s Midtown New York City office. However, he ended up being pushed out of the getaway vehicle in Times Square when the crew heard a police car, he said.
“I’m like bro, I’m f—ing famous at this point,” he said in court. 6ix9ine then said that he found himself in the subway station contemplating how to dispose of a gun.
“I stare at the turnstile, and I’m like ‘Nah, if I get on the train right now, someone will recognize me,’” he told the court.
When Hernandez was back above ground, he met another alleged associate, Faheem “Crippy” Walter, who navigated him back down underground.
6ix9ine had his hoodie over his head to disguise his bright rainbow-colored hair — he also has a huge “69” tattoo on his face — and he took the A train back to Brooklyn successfully without being recognized, Hernandez told the court.
The rapper also shared how he rushed to help his former crew in an infamous fight that transpired at LAX airport, but he claimed that he “didn’t land any punches.”
Tekashi69 and Ellison were both busted alongside another alleged associate named Aljermiah “Nuke” Mack and the rapper swiftly agreed to cooperate with the feds by testifying against Ellison and Mack.
While in court, Hernandez also mentioned Harlem rapper Jim Jones and referred to him as a “retired rapper” and member of the Nine Trey gang, according to reporter Matthew Russell Lee who was present in the courtroom and live-tweeted the hearing. Jones currently has yet to comment on him being mentioned in court.
The rapper faces up to 47 years in prison, but he could possibly receive a lighter sentence due to his cooperation with the feds.
Since 6ix9ine has continuously made headlines regarding his court case, many celebrities have chimed in, and so have fans and non-fans of the rapper.
On Wednesday (Sept. 18), Snoop Dogg took to Instagram and shared a meme that read “S.N.I.T.C.H.= Sorry N—- I’m tryna come home.”
50 cent also took to Instagram to make light of the fact that Hernandez referred to Jim Jones as a “retired rapper.”
Other memes have been shared on social media of the rapper writing in a notebook and keeping tabs that he will later share with law enforcement.
