Murderer Of Toya Wright’s Brothers Sentenced To Life In Prison
Three years ago, reality TV star and entrepreneur Toya Wright and her family were devastated by the murder of her brothers Ryan and Joshua Johnson.
Ryan, 24 and Joshua, 31, were both fatally shot in New Orleans, and now, the gunman Antoine Edwards has reportedly been convicted on two counts of second-degree murder, as Nola.com reports. Edwards has also been sentenced to life in prison.
On Monday (Sept. 30), Edwards, 34, was handed the mandatory life sentence by Judge Tracey Flemings-Davillier, in front of the Johnson family.
None of Ryan and Joshua’s family members chose to speak during the sentencing. However, they reportedly displayed relief once the sentence was handed down at Orleans Parish Criminal District Court.
Edwards’ sentence comes weeks after a New Orleans jury found him guilty after just two hours of deliberation that came after a three-day trial.
On July 31, 2016, Ryan and Joshua were found dead while sitting in a car shortly after midnight, as BET reported. The vehicle that the two siblings were found in was still running.
The authorities’ investigation of the double homicide led law enforcement to Edwards who witnesses identified as the person who was seen escaping the scene after the double murder took place.
