Netflix’s CEO Reed Hastings and his Wife Donate $120M to Black Education
Netflix CEO Reed Hastings and his wife, Patty Quillin, announced that they are committing $120 million to the United Negro College Fund and two historically black colleges, doing their part in the fight for racial justice in this country.
Reed Hastings sat down with MSNBC and said, “The times are the most stressed, the most painful, that we’ve ever seen in our lives, but out of that pain can come some opportunity, too. And maybe this will be the moment things change.”
The Hastings family will donate $40 million to the college fund and $40 million each to Spelman College and Morehouse College, both historically black colleges in Atlanta. The contribution is supposed to help insist with scholarships for students.
Personally, I think this is an important contribution that will certainly help change lives for students that attend these HBCU’s. I’m happy to continue to give them my money every month!
