21 Savage Announces ‘Savage Mode 2’
21 Savage has new music on the way. The Atlanta rapper and Metro Boomin have officially announced Savage Mode 2, four years following the release of the original, as Rap-Up reports.
The sequel to the duo’s 2016 album is slated to be released on Friday (Oct. 2). The announcement came via a trailer that was released on Monday (Sept. 28) and is narrated by Morgan Freeman.
“So to be in Savage Mode is to go hard, not allowing anything to stop or deter you from your mission,” says the Oscar-winning actor. “Basically, this means when someone is in Savage Mode, they’re not to be f—ed with.”
Fans of 21 Savage launched a Change.org petition for the long-awaited album, which garnered over 8,000 signatures. Released in 2016, the original Savage Mode was certified gold, spawning a pair of platinum hits, “No Heart” and “X” featuring Future.
Last July, during a Los Angeles tour stop, 21 Savage confirmed that a sequel would be coming soon. Prior to the project’s release, 21 Savage and Metro Boomin launched a merchandise store in preparation for the project’s drop. It includes clothing, masks, and a 200-page coffee table book.
