SZA To Make Acting Debut Alongside Keke Palmer In Buddy Comedy
SZA will be making her acting debut in a buddy comedy alongside Keke Palmer, Deadline reports. The plot is still unknown at the time but Issa Rae will produce and Keke, alongside her mother Sharon Palmer, will executive produce.
According to the publication, “SZA had been considering a number of projects, and the opportunity to reunite with Palmer was too good to pass up.” The two have worked together in the past on Saturday Night Live back in 2022. They both performed the song “Big Boys” for a skit on the late night sketch comedy show.
Music Update Before SZA To Make Acting Debut
While fans are patiently waiting for SZA to make her acting debut, they also want to get more music out of the singer soon. Last year, SZA teased Lana, the deluxe to her Grammy-winning sophomore album SOS, however nothing has yet to come to due to someone leaking unreleased songs that were supposed to be on the project.
“Y’all leaked three songs from the deluxe. At this point, y’all can keep the throwaways and leaks. I’ll be starting ‘Lana’ from scratch. Do not ask me about it again,” adding a few minutes later, “I’ll round up the leaks y’all already got and u can have those. Seems like a fair deal. ENJOY,” SZA wrote in a series of since-deleted tweets per Variety back in March.
In another series of since-deleted tweets, she made a note to call out a woman named Janessa who allegedly “unreleased pics and audio” from SZA’s impending project.
“Being that this is material from ‘Lana,’ this prompted me to make a decision. I decided w all the leaks and me not knowing what someone has or doesn’t have it’s too complicated so I should jus consolidate the leaks and the outtakes and drop that as to not prolong the process and then focus on my next project as a win win for everybody,” she wrote.
She continued, “And please be clear anybody defending a thief is weird as fuck. I don’t come in your job and take shit and fuck up your work. Why would that be okay? Where’s the home training? Nobody wants to prosecute a young woman. We’ve all asked very nicely for some time now.”
SZA confirmed that the deluxe edition of SOS will now feature “the leaks and outtakes” that have been released without the singer’s permission. The musician concluded her message writing: “Lana deserves more time and music no one’s ever heard before.”
