Netflix House: Bringing ‘Titles To Life’ With Entertainment, Dining, Shopping
Fans can experience the world of Bridgerton, Stranger Things, and Knives Out, in the flesh. Netflix announced the first two cities for its massive new in-person experience venues, Netflix House.
According to the news release, the venues will include a wide array of rotating “experiential” activities, from restaurants with dishes inspired by their titles, shopping experiences with related merchandise, challenges like the Glass Bridge seen in “Squid Game,” replicas of their sets and more, according to Netflix.
More About Netflix House
The first two locations are set to open in 2025 in what Netflix says are “two of America’s most popular shopping centers.” These include Texas’ Galleria Dallas at 13350 Dallas Parkway and the King of Prussia Mall at 180 North Gulph Road near Philadelphia. The Netflix Houses will occupy the space of former department stores in the malls, each spanning more than 100,000 square feet.
“At Netflix House, you can enjoy regularly updated immersive experiences, indulge in retail therapy, and get a taste — literally — of your favorite Netflix series and films through unique food and drink offerings,” said Marian Lee, Netflix’s chief marketing officer. “The venues will bring our beloved stories to life in new, ever-changing, and unexpected ways.”
According to the company, outside of each Netflix House, you’ll see sculptures and a mural mash-up of characters from popular Netflix titles.
As examples of what to expect at the brick-and-mortar complexes, the company says, “Imagine waltzing with your partner to an orchestral cover of a Taylor Swift song on a replica of the Bridgerton set and then walking around the corner to compete in the Glass Bridge challenge from Squid Game.” Visitors can then visit a restaurant “with food inspired by Netflix shows from around the world” and then browse a store with merch such as “that Hellfire Club T-shirt you’ve always wanted” from Stranger Things.
Some Netflix experiences currently being offered around the world include the Bridgerton high tea settings in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and London, an immersive Stranger Things exhibit in São Paulo, Brazil, and a Knives Out dinner party in Toronto.
Excitement and Concerns
People took to social media to share their excitement and concerns about the news. One person wrote, “So that’s the reason for the increase in pricing? For brick and mortar setups?” Another person compared the move to an adult play land, “So, basically a Netflix IP themed Chuck E Cheese for grown-ups, to compete with Dave & Buster’s?” Someone else said, “Numbers will be good for a while and then the trend will fade and it will die. Hopefully it won’t just be another empty box but that is probably hoping for too much.”
Several people did express that they would love to check out the different Netflix House locations. Someone mentioned how they plan to dress in character when they visit the Philly location.
