Lizzo’s ‘Truth Hurts’ Becomes Her First No. 1 On ‘Billboard’ Hot 100
Newcomer Lizzo has recently hit a milestone. The rapper-singer has garnered her first no. 1 song on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart, as Entertainment Weekly reports.
A little less than two years following Lizzo’s release of her infectious single “Truth Hurts,” the song reached number one on the aforementioned chart.
On Tuesday (Sept. 3), Billboard announced that the 31-year-old Detroit native’s song climbed to the top spot 714 days following its original debut on Sept. 19, 2017.
“We did it Lizzbians” Lizzo tweeted alongside the rainbow and rain and umbrella emoji.

On Aug. 26, Lizzo performed the single at the 2019 MTV VMAs, which most likely assisted the single’s rise two positions up from its previous peak at No. 3. The song had 53,000 digital sales and a 21 percent increase in streams (34.4 million total) for the week ending Aug. 29. During the week ending Sept. 1, the song had 98.4 million audience impressions on the radio.
Bronx rapper Cardi B took to Instagram to congratulate Lizzo in her IG stories. “Congrats @lizzobeeating on your #1,” Cardi wrote on a photo of the “Juice” singer.
