Terry Crews Gets Criticized On Twitter For His Response To Protests
Terry Crews had a few things to say regarding the current protests that are taking place nationally and internally regarding the specific police brutality that frequently takes place against African Americans.
“Defeating White supremacy without White people creates Black supremacy. Equality is the truth,” Crews tweeted on Sunday (June 7). Tyler James Williams, who starred in Everybody Hates Chris alongside Crews swiftly responded to the actor.
“I’m not trying to call you out [Terry Crews]. You know it’s all love always. But we’re rightfully angry right now and fed up with anyone not with our cause wholeheartedly,” Williams tweeted at Crews. “I don’t want to see that energy pointed your way or diverted from the cause.”

“I understand, Tyler. I was not saying Black supremacy exists because it doesn’t. I am saying if both Black and Whites don’t continue to work together– bad attitudes and resentments can create a dangerous self-righteousness. That’s all,” Crews tweeted back to Williams.
Writer Kevin Powell also responded to Crews. “This makes absolutely no sense, makes very Black self-hating assumption that Black folks actually try to do harm to White people in major ways, when there is no proof in history of any such behavior even remotely close to White supremacist behavior. Please, read books, sir,” Powell tweeted at Crews.
“That’s not what I’m saying, Kevin. At all,” Crews responded. Comedian Godfrey also responded to Crews. “I love you as a friend Brother Terry. But I disagree with you 100%. No such thing as Black Supremacy. That is a tactic that Racist whites use to counteract our rebellion to their horrific treatment of us. It’s called Gaslighting. Black pride isn’t anti-white,” Godfrey said.

Powell then continued his conversation with Crews. “Terry, with all due respect, given your platform, you cannot just post something like that even remotely suggests that Black people would fall into ‘Black Supremacy’ if we battle White Supremacy without White people,” Powell added.
“Kevin, I’ve learned that people will take anything you say and twist it for their own evil. Anything,” Crews then responded to Powell.
“Any Black person who calls me a coon or an Uncle Tom for promoting EQUALITY is a Black Supremacist because they have determined who’s Black and who is not,” Crews then tweeted. On Monday morning (June 8), Terry Crews took to Twitter again to clarify his previous statements.
“I believe it is important we not suffer from groupthink, and we keep minds of our own, and be allowed to ask difficult questions to each other. I believe this dialogue is important as we get through this trauma together. I love you,” Terry Crews tweeted. “Please know that everything I’ve said comes from a spirit of love and reconciliation, for the Black community first, then the world as a whole, in hopes to see a better future for Black people.”
