Is where you’re living getting in the way of you finding true love? Maybe. And, if that’s true, then you have an excuse to give your pestering relatives when they ask you why you’re single once the holidays roll around.
According to a new study, many U.S. cities have a demographic makeup that make them really bad for dating, while others are excellent for it. Researchers at Sperling’s BestPlaces used several key factors with U.S. Census data to create the ranking, such as percentage of singles ages 18-24, population and number of dating venues per capita. Those venues would be places such as restaurants, coffee shops and bars- spots people often frequent when going on dates. I think they also should have included record stores, because those are great places for a first date, but they didn’t ask me.
“Hooking that hottie is hard enough without the odds stacked against you, so the city researchers at Sperling’s BestPlaces have identified for you ‘America’s Best and Worst Cities for Dating,'” the study reads. “The study is based on criteria that includes percentage of singles ages 18-24, population density, and dating venues per capita such as concerts, coffee shops, bars, bowling alleys, etc., and includes 80 metro areas in America. We teamed up with AXE Deodorant Bodyspray, which specializes in the dating game, to find out which city is revered as the D.C. (Dating Capital) of the U.S.”
As it turns out, one Michigan city is one of the best in America for dating, while another is at the bottom. Many of the best cities for dating are surprising, too, as they aren’t the big meccas that usually show up on these lists. Read on for the top 10 cities for dating in America.
