Rihanna’s Savage X Fenty Store Finally Opens In Downtown Detroit
I can’t believe it is finally happening, but it is! Michigan’s first-ever Savage X Fenty store is opening its doors this Friday (August 30) in downtown Detroit. I remember strolling around during the very busy NFL Draft celebration in downtown Detroit, passing by what looked like a deserted Rihanna pop-up and thinking, “Well, maybe it’s not happening. No one’s said a word.” But here we are: Opening day!
The lingerie brand, created by the iconic singer and entrepreneur Rihanna, is hosting a grand opening bash at the store on Friday, kicking off at 10 a.m., according to a post by Bedrock Detroit on X. The post, captioned, “Not an R9 release but close enough ?? [umbrella emoji] @rihanna giving the city of Detroit what they want [hand clap emoji],” shows the store’s exterior, followed by a hilarious green-screen clip of Tom Holland dancing and lip-syncing to Rihanna’s “Umbrella” from Lip Sync Battle.
The grand opening event is Friday (August 30) at 10 a.m. with special giveaways, a live DJ, and light refreshments all day long. You can find the Savage X Fenty store at 1442 Woodward Ave., Detroit, MI 48226.
People flocked to the comments to share in the excitement of the opening. One person commented, “It’ll be a mob scene…” Someone else commented, “Take my money!”
First announced back in 2022, this store is located at 1442 Woodward Ave. Savage X Fenty, founded by Rihanna in 2018 as an online-only brand, offers a wide range of lingerie, sleepwear, and loungewear in sizes up to 4XL. The company has since opened stores in Atlanta, Houston, and Los Angeles, among other cities.
It was announced about two years ago, and it wasn’t just me wondering if this store was ever going to happen. A few months ago, someone on Reddit asked, “What’s going on with Savage X Fenty?” One person replied, “Didn’t they say early spring?” Another added, “We’ve been waiting. We need this!”
I was lucky enough to visit Rihanna’s Savage X Fenty store in Atlanta’s Lennox Square Mall, and let me tell you, it was love at first sight. I spent a good hour or more just soaking it all in, touching everything like a kid in a candy store. As soon as you walk in, you’re welcomed by trendy beats, stunning photos of Rihanna, and images of diverse women owning their style. Fair warning: if you love chic and comfy, your wallet might not make it out alive.
Pro tip for first-timers: Check out the Savage X Fenty catalog online before you go to ensure your must-haves aren’t sold out. Some items fly off the shelves. And if you can’t find what you’re looking for, the store associates are great at helping you order it online. Trust me, it’s an experience you don’t want to miss.
