From Ferris Bueller to Knight Rider—Don’t Miss These Movie Cars at This Year’s Detroit Auto Show
Remember the Ferrari Modena Spyder California from “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” or Clark Griswold’s “Wagon Queen Family Truckster” from “National Lampoon’s Vacation”? Several original and replica vehicles and more will appear in a special salute to Hollywood film cars and a “Detroit Through the Decades” showcase at the 2025 Detroit Auto Show, Jan. 10-20.
Automotive lifestyle brand Hagerty has collaborated with the show’s organizers to bring these well-recognized TV and movie vehicles to show attendees. Among the vehicles featured are:
- Volkswagen Beetle “Swinger 2” from “Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me” (courtesy of the Petersen Automotive Museum)
- Rosso Corsa red Ferrari 308 G connected with the “Magnum P.I.” TV series (also courtesy of the Petersen Automotive Museum)
- Pontiac Firebird Trans Am “KITT,” from the 1980s TV show “Knight Rider”
- Jeep Wrangler from the 1990s-era film classic “Jurassic Park.”
Several vehicle models featured in the “Detroit Through the Decades” showcase include:
- 1923 Ford 5-Window Coupe Street Rod “American Graffiti Build”
- 1958 Chevrolet Impala
- 1965 Pontiac GTO Convertible
- 1967 Ford Mustang Fastback
- 1970 Dodge Charger R/T
- 1979 Ford Bronco
- 2009 Dodge Viper SRT-10 ACR
“We’re pleased to partner with Hagerty and Vanguard Motors to offer audiences this rare opportunity to see a collection of truly unique and iconic vehicles that show-goers could not see in any other venue,” said Detroit Auto Show Chairman Karl Zimmermann. “The fun and engaging blend of cars and trucks at this year’s Show will appeal to all ages — from kids to grandparents and everyone in between.”
In addition to these exhibitions, attendees will discover several interactive displays and four ride-and-drive tracks.
