Arturo Holmes/Getty Images for NYFW: The ShowsNew York Fashion Week is the year's most important fashion event. Taking place just twice a year (February and September), international designers, models and celebrities put their best foot forward in an effort to showcase the latest in style innovation. Some of the pieces, hairstyles and makeup looks set the tone in trends for 2023 for buyers, the press, and the general public. However, there are some quite questionable looks that we wish our eyes hadn't seen.
Take a look at some of the best, the worst and the ugliest looks for NYFW 2022 below:
The Ugly: Concept Korea
Dia Dipasupil/Getty Images for Concept KoreaThis gives "wind-blown" a new meaning. Don't know what the designer thought this gelled-up mess of a hairdo would do for their collection other than distract from the pieces, but we digress.
The Good: Mirror Palais
Albert Urso/Getty Images for NYFW: The ShowsThis is giving "Dune" meets runway vibes, with this beautifully flowing red layered mesh dress with a hood.
The Bad: Puma
Fernanda Calfat/Getty Images for NYFW: The ShowsBesides showing they've got a lot of caps, Puma's cap-stack just looks silly.
The Bad: Puma
Fernanda Calfat/Getty Images for NYFW: The ShowsWe didn't know the alien from "Nope" was making a special appearance!
The Bad: Puma
Fernanda Calfat/Getty Images for NYFW: The ShowsWe know Elon Musk is trying to get us all into space, but we are not interested in wearing this spacesuit.
The Ugly: Christian Cowan
John Lamparski/Getty Images for NYFW: The ShowsIf you have to give your shoes a haircut so they don't drag on dirty floors and streets, it is not a cute look.
The Ugly: Rentrayage
John Lamparski/Getty Images for NYFW: The ShowsThey did this model dirty over at Rentrayage by the styling, the sloppy tucking in of the shirt and the updo. This just screams "hot mess."
The Good: Julia Fox at Parsons MFA Student Show
Jason Mendez/Getty Images for NYFW: The ShowsJulia Fox is serving us mermaid-alien realness with this fun ensemble! She has truly become a fashion icon.
The Ugly: Boohoo By Kourtney Kardashian Barker
Jamie McCarthy/Getty Images for BoohooKevin Aviance broke out the thickest lashes he could find and put on the loudest outfit he owns to create this bizarre look. Our eyes are going to all the places we would rather not go.
The Bad: Batsheva
Arturo Holmes/Getty Images for NYFW: The ShowsSmurfette meets cottage-core.
The Bad: Deveaux New York
Roy Rochlin/Getty Images for NYFW: The ShowsThis is another take on the Joker. And not a good one.
The Bad: Kenneth Nicholson
Arturo Holmes/Getty Images for NYFW: The ShowsThey pinned a curtain on this model's shoulder, didn't give him shoes and called it a day. Hoepfully he got paid handsomely for this.
The Bad: Kenneth Nicholson
Arturo Holmes/Getty Images for NYFW: The ShowsThe skirt overlay on top of the flared pants without a shirt is just not it. Had they layered with a top, this look could have been saved.
The Ugly: Vivienne Tam
Roy Rochlin/Getty Images for NYFW: The ShowsThe poodle head at the crotch is less fashion and more cringe.
The Bad: Vivienne Tam
Dia Dipasupil/Getty Images for NYFW: The ShowsWe left the whole jeans under a dress thing 20 years ago for a reason. Some fashion trends are to be left in the past. Sorry!
The Ugly: Vivienne Tam
Dia Dipasupil/Getty Images for NYFW: The ShowsWe need to, as a collective, stop with the bleached brows. It is not really edgy, and when it's done wrong, it looks really bad. Here's exhibit A!
The Ugly: Wiederhoeft
Fernanda Calfat/Getty Images for NYFW: The ShowsThis model can go straight from the runway to performing in Times Square as a statue with this painted metallic face.
The Ugly: Theophilio
Jamie McCarthy/Getty Images for NYFW: The ShowsAnother example as to why bleached brows should not be a thing.
The Bad: Wiederhoeft
Fernanda Calfat/Getty Images for NYFW: The ShowsThe sexy lingerie/sailor suit and chiseled abs may have been intentional for the polarity of it all, but it doesn't work for us.
The Bad: Wiederhoeft
Fernanda Calfat/Getty Images for NYFW: The ShowsWe're all for showing how pregnancy can be beautiful, but the golden paint around the belly looks like a bullseye or hypno-ring.
The Bad: The Blonds
Roy Rochlin/Getty Images for NYFW: The ShowsThese nails literally look like pasta was glued on and spray-painted gold.
The Good: Anna Wintour and Ciara at Tom Ford
Dimitrios Kambouris/Getty Images for NYFW: The ShowsThe duo matched in red but Ciara stole the show, looking glamorous as ever with red gloves, shades and that velvet jacket!
The Good: Tom Ford
JP Yim/Getty Images for NYFW: The ShowsTom Ford's show was gaudy, but Bella Hadid absolutely rocked this Disco Queen vibe!
The Good: Selkie
Albert Urso/Getty ImagesThe soft yellow dress fulfills every woman's dream to be a princess.
The Good: Selkie
Albert Urso/Getty ImagesThis pastel tie-dye ensemble is complete with these fun matching leg warmers.
The Good: Selkie
Albert Urso/Getty ImagesWe'd love to see this baby blue gown on a red carpet!
The Good: Selkie
Albert Urso/Getty ImagesWe are loving the unicorn headpieces all the models wore for Selkie. This model pairs it with a sparkly thigh garter.
The Good: Selkie
Albert Urso/Getty ImagesWe love the soft silver makeup this model is wearing with her outfit.
The Good: Midnight Studios
Udo Salters/Getty Images for NYFW: The ShowsThe smoked-out eyes are a wonderful contrast to the gelled pink hair.
The Good: Midnight Studios
Udo Salters/Getty Images for NYFW: The ShowsWe are living our best punk lives with this look, paired with red gloves.
The Good: Moschino SS22
David Dee Delgado/Getty ImagesHow cute and edgy is this Moschino purse? The fashion line had this leather jacket style in a variety of colors and shapes on the runway.
The Bad: Dur Doux
Fernanda Calfat / Getty ImagesThe ruching of the dress mixed with the loud tights and shoes just look too busy and dated.
The Good: Dur Doux
Fernanda Calfat / Getty ImagesWe love a man in a suit, and even more so when layering is done so expertly like they did here.
The Bad: Dur Doux
Fernanda Calfat / Getty ImagesThis is where too much color can ruin a look. It looks as though they piled on every accessory they could on this model.
The Good: Dur Doux
Fernanda Calfat / Getty ImagesThis shade of red and purple go together so well.
The Good: Dur Doux
Fernanda Calfat / Getty ImagesThe execution of layers with a monochromatic color scheme is done so well, we'd even consider wearing bright orange!
The Bad: Dur Doux
Fernanda Calfat / Getty ImagesThey did the women so bad at Dur Doux. The big sequins on the blazer ruin the whole look.
The Good: PRISCAVera
Manny Carabel/Getty Images for NYFW: The ShowsBraids are timeless and always in season. Here, we like the addition of a black ribbon to contrast the models red hair.
The Good: PRISCAVera
Manny Carabel/Getty Images for NYFW: The ShowsBesides the fuzzy cat-eared beanie paired with bangs being so adorable, we love the layered denim outfit!
The Good: PRISCAVera
Manny Carabel/Getty Images for NYFW: The ShowsThe best way to pair a revealing top is to wear an oversized blazer and pants. So chic!
The Good: Coach 1941
Arturo Holmes/Getty Images for NYFW: The ShowsYou can never go wrong with a good leather jacket. Coach had the best ones of NYFW.
The Bad: Lil Nas X at Coach 1941
Arturo Holmes/Getty Images for NYFW: The ShowsLil Nas X did his thing performing at Vogue World, but he looked awkward on the runway at Coach.
