It’s National Wine And Cheese Day today! Are you a wine lover? A white or red wine connoisseur? Personally, I rarely drink and I’m not a fan of red wines that are very dry. So when I do drink wine, I have to go with a very cold, sweet white Riesling.

Now, you may think you have to travel across the country to Napa Valley to enjoy wine tasting, but you don’t! Michigan has cracked the top five list of wine producing states in the U.S. We now have over 100 wineries right here in our backyard. You may be thinking “Wow! There are so many choices to choose from how do I choose?” Well, Pure Michigan released a list of 11 unique winery experiences in Michigan, but I will highlight 5 great ones here!

  • Bike Along a Wine Trail

Take in a little nature with your wine. Grab a bike rental from Grand Traverse Bike Tours and hit a wooded trail to visit up to ten wineries. You can take a self-guided tour with maps from them or they provide guided tours too.

  • Visit a Wine Festival

Don’t have time to travel around to get your wine tasting on? Let them come to you in one place like the Lake Michigan Shore Wine Festival in Colomoa, MI. It’s happens every third Saturday in June. It features a ton of wineries for your enjoyment.

  • Dine Among the Vines

If you’d like a close up look at the grapes used to make the wine you are tasting while enjoying dinner, then Bowers Harbor Vineyards is definitely a place you’ll want to check out to dine in the vines!

  • Workout with Wine

Like to run? Like wine? Now you can combine the two for a unique experience. Be sure to check out the Leelanau Peninsula Wine Trail Harvest Stompede. Before ending the day with a self-guided wine tour you can compete in the run across the vineyards. Sounds like a great day!

  • Pair Wine with Live Music

There’s nothing more satisfying than pouring a glass of wine and turning on some tunes. If that sounds like your thing, be sure to check out Dablon Vineyards Winery & Tasting Room in Baroda. Dablon offers live music on most Fridays and Sunday afternoons for you listening pleasure while tasting a variety of wines.
