Six Detroit Bars To Tailgate Before Sunday’s Lions – Buccaneers Game

Whether you’re going to the game Sunday at Ford Field or not, if you need something to do before the game I am going to let you know about six Detroit Lions tailgates. The city has been buzzing over the Lions hosting a Divisional Round game for the first time in 33 years, after winning their first playoff game in the same amount of time.

Sunday they’ll host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at 3 pm and if you don’t have a spot to tailgate I’ll let you know about six bars in the D that will be hosting Detroit Lions tailgates this Sunday before the game. Five of the six bars are right downtown so you’ll be in the thick of Lions fans, and one is a bit off the beat and path.

I have called myself a bit of a Detroit Lions lucky charm the team is 21-30 since I moved to Detroit. The 3-0 in games that I have attended, including a trip to Tampa when the Lions beat the Buccaneers earlier this season. Here are the three games that I went to:

  1. November 9, 2022: 15 – 9 win over the Green Bay Packers at Ford Field
  2. December 4, 2022: 40 – 14 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars at Ford Field
  3. October 15, 2023: 20 – 6 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Raymond James Stadium

  5. Old Shillelagh (Greektown): 349 Monroe St, Detroit
  6. Diamondback Music Hall (Van Buren): 49345 S Interstate 94 Service Dr, Van Buren Charter Township

  • One Mike Detroit

    One Mike Detroit is the new comedy club downtown, their tailgate starts at 2 pm on Sunday. They’ll have food and drink specials all day including; $15 beer buckets, $8 wing baskets and $10 catfish buckets.

  • Tin Roof Detroit

    Tin Roof is going to open at 8am on Sunday morning and their party is 21+. They’ll have live bands and local DJ’s, you can RSVP ahead of time to skip the line for $100 here.

  • Hockeytown Cafe

    Hockeytown’s doors will open at 10 am, but the third floor will open at 11 and there will be heaters on the roof. They’ll have a live DJ from 11 am – 3 pm. Plus $5 Bud Light cans, Goff City Drink, All Grit & Lions Kool-Aid shot and more. Check out their Facebook event for more info here.

  • Bookie's Bar & Grille

    Bookie’s will open at 9:30 on Sunday morning right now they only have their daily special of $25 Corona buckets listed.

  • Old Shillelagh

    Old Shillelagh’s tailgate will go from 8 am – 2 pm and all three levels will be opened with heaters on the patio. They’ll have live music and a DJ for pre and post-game. You can RSVP to their event here.

  • Diamondback Music Hall

    Diamondback Music Hall is out in Van Buren Township. If you’re trying to stay away of the madness of downtown They’ll open at 1:30 pm and have food and drink specials all night. You can RSVP in advance, for free here or pay $5 at the door.
