Lena Waithe’s Met Gala ensemble has been all the rave over the past few days, but now a misspelling on the outfit is what’s being discussed.
The actress, screenwriter, and producer rocked a tailored suit that read,” Black Drag Queens Inventend Camp” on the back with the lyrics to Diana Ross’s hit “I’m Coming Out,” Sister Sledge’s “We Are Family,” and Gloria Gayor’s “I Will Survive,” among other song lyrics serving as her pinstripes.
Apparently, someone on social media brought attention to the fact that invented was misspelled.
Waithe took to Twitter to respond to someone who tweeted, “Am I the only one to assume @LenaWaithe ‘s #inventend was purposeful and not a mistake?” She replied, “Everything I do is purposeful!”
The executive producer of The Chi then tweeted, “First there was “Periodt”…and Kerby and I wanted to give y’all another one “Inventend,” referencing Miami’s City Girls whose popular catchphrase is “periodt.”
Check out some of the tweets regarding Waithe’s head-turning outfit.
