Halle Bailey’s Mother’s Day Tribute: Son Halo Inspires Tattoo
More and more Halle Bailey is sharing her sweet baby Halo with the world. She just celebrated her first Mother’s Day as a mom. On Sunday, May 12, the singer and actress shared a video compilation of her son Halo.
The video tribute begins with never-before-seen videos of Bailey at the hospital after giving birth to her baby boy, including clips of her and DDG holding Halo. Bailey included a peak into her life as a new mom with several clips of her and Halo sleeping and cuddling. She added the caption, “My first Mother’s Day [heart emoji] the greatest love i’ve ever known.”
Halo’s father, DDG, added to the Mother’s Day love in the comments, writing, “The best mom ever!”
Fans of the singer took to the comments to join in on the love and reliability of the post. The first clips shows Bailey mouthing something which some fans interrupted as the “most real mom moment.” Someone wrote, “‘omg I feel like I just sh– on myself’ HALLE [laughing emoji].” Another person said, “All doctors and moms read her lips and understood.” Several commentators overall wished her a very “Happy First Mother’s Day!”
But wait, there’s more to Halle Bailey’s first Mother’s Day.
The Little Mermaid actress also revealed that the day before Mother’s Day, she got a tattoo in Halo’s honor. In an Instagram Stories post, Bailey shared a photo of her very first tattoo which reads “Halo” in red, cursive script on her wrist.
“I got my first tattoo yesterday for mother’s day,” she wrote, “in honor of my baby halo.”
In 2022, Bailey and DDG went Instagram official with their relationship. They both have kept their life as new parents private. However, the two have shared occasional glimpses of their son.
In a YouTube video posted in January, the rapper shared details about his journey into fatherhood for the first time, calling Bailey a “great mom.”
“I wouldn’t chose no other person in the world to have a child with,” he said of the actress. “We learning. She’s a great mom. Like it’s crazy. She’s amazing.” The couple also spoke about their life as new parents in February. “It’s wonderful,” Bailey told Entertainment Tonight at the time, adding, “I love our baby so much. We’re so happy.”
Also in February, Bailey opened up about her son’s name, revealing to PEOPLE that it was actually his father’s idea.“We just agreed, and we loved it,” she said. “I love the name Halo.”
When asked whether there was any connection between her son’s name and her mentor Beyoncé’s song “Halo,” Bailey laughed and said, “He for sure has a theme song.”
The couple has been together for almost two years. Elle reported that the pair were first romantically linked in January 2022, after they were seen together at Usher’s residency in Las Vegas. Things became official a few months later on Instagram when DDG wished Bailey a happy birthday in a now-deleted video. He wrote at the time, “Happy Birthday to the beautifulest, the flyest, the sweetest [heart emoji] love you forever [sad eyes emoji] [diamond emoji].”
