A Federal Grand Jury May Hear Soon From Diddy’s Accusers
Federal investigators are preparing to bring accusers Sean “Diddy” Combs before a federal grand jury. According to CNN, the US Justice Department is moving toward potentially seeking an indictment of Combs.
Diddy’s Accusers Are Getting Ready For The Federal Grand Jury
Diddy’s accusers have been notified by investigators that they could be brought in to testify in front of a federal grand jury in New York City, according to one source. Bringing in the individuals who have filed civil lawsuits against the “Bad Boy For Life” artist before a grand jury would mark a significant escalation in the government’s ongoing investigation into Diddy.
Diddy has been named in eight civil lawsuits since November — seven of which are directly accusing him of sexual assault. One of the eight lawsuits, filed by former girlfriend Cassie Ventura, has been settled with an undisclosed amount. Another lawsuit accused his son Christian Combs, 26, of sexual assault, and Diddy is accused of aiding and abetting him.
A spokesperson for the Homeland Security Investigations agency (HSI) hasn’t confirmed the existence of a grand jury but noted the investigation into Diddy remains ongoing. These potential witnesses have not yet been prepped for testimony, both sources told CNN, due to HSI investigators still being in the process of gathering evidence and questioning potential sources of information.
One source said investigators are being thorough and taking their time to ensure that if there is to be an indictment, it will be “bulletproof.” Additional sources tell CNN that the majority of the plaintiffs who have filed civil suits against Combs have been interviewed by federal investigators.
As we previously reported, Diddy’s homes were raided in March because of a federal investigation carried out by a Department of Homeland Security team that handles human trafficking crimes, and the ongoing investigation included a focus on sex trafficking, according to law enforcement sources.
Diddy’s History of Violence
Diddy has strongly denied all claims from the civil suits. However, in a new exclusive feature for Rolling Stone magazine published Tuesday (May 28), dozens of former friends, employees, and Bad Boy artists have come forward to describe Diddy’s abusive, menacing history of violence.
Those who spoke to the publication about the rapper and singer described a “complicated man with opposing personas.” Joi Dickerson-Neal, who is suing him for sexual assault, says that her decision to come forward “isn’t about money. It’s about making sure the world sees that this man who rose to the level of an ‘icon’ is actually sick and has left so many victims in [the wake of his] unpunished disgusting behavior for years.”
After the footage of Diddy assaulting Cassie in the hotel hallway surfaced, LaJoyce Brookshire, a former publicity executive at Bad Boy, says she was disturbed to learn “that these types of actions could have occurred … and that Puffy could stand in my face the next day with a straight face. That shakes me to my core.”
Another former employee says he once saw Diddy attack a woman inside Bad Boy’s office in 1994. He and another ex-employee told the publication they had to tear Diddy off the woman after hearing screams and the sound of shattering glass. Felicia Newsome, the first manager of Bad Boy’s recording studio, Daddy’s House, says she once held Diddy back when he was about to “beat this girl’s a–” after a fight broke out between two women. “I’m holding him by his waist, saying, ‘You need to calm down. This is not your fight,’” Newsome recalled.
