The Detroit Lions Just Got Stronger – Here’s Why
I’m so ready for football season. Now that the NBA and NFL are wrapping up their seasons, I don’t really have games to watch until the NFL preseason kicks off. I know the MLB is in action, but it’s hard for me to watch since the Detroit Tigers aren’t on Comcast. So, that leaves me wanting football back yesterday. Now, we have yet another reason to be excited about the Detroit Lions’ team this upcoming season. The Detroit Lions just got stronger, again. Here’s why.
The Detroit Lions Just Got Stronger
There’s a lot of excitement around the Detroit Lions this season. Before we get to how the Detroit Lions just got stronger again, let’s talk about the fact that the Detroit Lions are among the NFL teams with the best chances of winning the Super Bowl next season who have never won a Lombardi Trophy yet. How cool is that? Of course, it’s not cool that we haven’t won a trophy yet. But, I believe we will. NFL expert Eric Edholm at NFL.com recently posted a new feature ranking 12 teams that have never snagged the Lombardi Trophy. Of those NFL teams, he has the Detroit Lions as having the best chance of going all the way. “With the Goff-led offense, an improved defense and the ultra-aggressive Dan Campbell making the calls, Detroit is one of the most dangerous teams in football, even in what appears to be a highly competitive NFC North,” Edholm states. I’m right there with you, my friend. The Detroit Lions’ time has come, and I’m here for it. It’s also worth noting that according to Spotrac.com, the Lions have spent the most money during the offseason than any other NFL team, both bringing on new talent and securing vets. That’s a good sign that we’re going to be even stronger next season. We’re also still a young team, so we have time on our side, as they say.
So, how did the Detroit Lions just get stronger? Anyone who follows the team knows that Dan the Man likes to go for it on fourth down. I’m not saying that it’s because he doesn’t have faith in his kicker, because I’ve seen him go for it despite the chance for a close, easy field goal. But, the team is reportedly signing UFL kicker Jake Bates to two-year deal, via ESPN’s Adam Schefter. That should give Dan Campbell more confidence in his kicking unit. It makes the team stronger. I’m all for it, and it’s not just because Bates is really handsome. With Bates in the fold, maybe Dan will be able to control himself and not always go for it. Please?
