Christmas lights at the Detroit Zoo

The Detroit Zoo lights up the zoo with the Wild Lights. From November 19th to January 8th, the Detroit Zoo will light up the holidays. The events will run on select weeknights, some Fridays, Saturdays, and most Sundays. The times will run from 5 – 10:30 pm. Only the front half of the zoo will be lit and the animal areas will not be included in the events. They have different ticket packages depending on what you would like to experience.

According to detroitzoo.org (which is also quite festive with snow falling), some of the events include:

  • WILD LIGHTS

    There will be 35 nights of magical lights. Millions of lights adorn the trees, buildings, animal sculptures, and a walk-through tunnel.

  • Enhanced Trail

    Stroll through the lighted trails throughout the front half of the zoo.

  • Toyland and Wishing Tree

    A lighted wonderland of lighted toys and a 40-foot-long train. And don’t forget to make a holiday wish at the zoo’s Wishing Tree.

  • Polar Express 4d Experience

    Enjoy the Polar Express in 4d™!

  • Wild Lights Lodge

    Not just for the kids, Wild Lights also offers the Wild Lights Lodge. At the Wild Lights Lodge, there will be live entertainment, bar service, and SMORES!

  • Wild Life Photographer of the Year Exhibit

    If you are in the mood for a little art, check out the exhibit of the Wild Life Photographer of the Year Exhibit.

  • Seasonal Treats and Eats

    Hungry? Not to worry, there will be seasonal treats like hot cocoa, warm pretzels, and kettle corn.

  • Polar Patio Experience

    A popular dining experience returns. A private dining experience inside Table 28.
