Suicide Prevention Calls Spike After Logic’s VMA Performance
The song “1-800-273-8255” caused calls to the National Suicide Prevention Hotline by 50%.
The VMA’s provided an emotional moment for those suffering with severe depression and suicidal tendencies. Logic took the stage with Khalid and Alessia Cara to perform “1-800-273-8255” where Logic shares his struggles with depression.

The song was so inspirational that calls to the National Suicide Prevention Center rose by 50% following the performance.
John Draper, director of the National Suicide Prevention Hotline, told CNN:
“It’s not just about the calls; it’s about increasing awareness about suicide, and suicide prevention in particular, […] The calls don’t even begin to count the number of people who, just by listening to the song and hearing the lyrics, feel more hopeful and less alone.”
Logic was also joined on stage by survivors of suicide attempts.
