On Friday, Future dropped his new EP, Save Me.
Prior to releasing the highly-anticipated project, the rapper shared a myriad of photos on Instagram, some with cryptic captions.
On Friday, Future shared a photo of himself on Instagram with his back turned while leaning against a truck that had a banner on it that says, “Warning! Dope leads to death!”
In his caption, Future wrote, “If I tell u the truth u gone assume I’m depressed but I had to tell u the truth. SAVE ME”
On Thursday, Future shared a photo on Instagram of himself laying down with his hand over his head. “Your heart glued to a building on fire. SAVE ME,” he wrote as his caption, leading one of his followers to comment, “Bro, you aight?”
Not to mention, the title (of the new EP, Save Me) alone is a direct request to be saved, but the question is, “from what?”
The EP is Future’s second release of 2019 and consists of seven tracks and no features.
Although Save Me has only been out for a short amount of time, some fans of Future are heavily discussing the track “Shotgun” on social media, alleging that Future might have sampled his ex-girlfriend, Ciara’s 2006 single, “Promise.”
Sampling isn’t rare in hip-hop, but it’s interesting that it might be a possibility that he sampled the song because he and Ciara had a rocky relationship. The former pair dated briefly and had a son, Future Zahir, together. In 2014, they split. At this time, it’s not clear whether or not Future actually did sample the song.
