Detroit Teens: Free Recreation Membership,
The City of Detroit has announced a cool new program. All teens and young adults, ages 13 to 24, are now eligible to receive a free summer membership at all 10 of the recreation centers across the city. Send them there to keep cool because they’re going to have air conditioning, free internet, food services for school-aged children, and they’ll have access to a variety of activities and resources from basketball courts and football fields to the computer labs, splash pads and all this stuff. The whole family can go. Adults need a membership, but the kids do get to go for free, so take ’em out there and keep ’em busy this summer!

Nicki Minaj has been the victim of “celebrity swatting”. This is where somebody calls 911 and makes claims that things are happening at someone’s home so law enforcement shows up. Apparently 911 received two separate calls. One saying that her son, who she calls Papa Bear, was being physically abused. And another one that her house was on fire and she was stuck in the house. Of course, when police and fire showed up, there was nothing going on. I mean, do they know who they’re messing with? Because Nicki is good for some revenge. She’s already said that she’s hired lawyers and private investigators to figure out who this is and that they will be held accountable.

As you know, Flavor Flav lives here in Metro Detroit and he was one of the over 120,000 fans that went to see Taylor Swift at Ford Field over the weekend. Flav is a huge Taylor Swift fan; he’s been seen wearing her merch all the time. So, while he was at the show, he was handing out bracelets and taking pics with fans. It was really super cute. I also read that Taylor Swift made a huge donation to Gleaners Food Bank while she was here too, so that’s pretty cool. Shout out to Taylor. I’m not the biggest fan of her music, but she is a really great person. I had the opportunity to take my daughter to one of her shows when she was younger and we went to meet her and like, Taylor’s Swift’s mom gave us a personal backstage tour! And Taylor was super sweet and everything and she actually sent a personal card to my daughter, handwritten and everything, thanking her for coming. That was really, really nice.
