2 Michigan Cites Ranked In The Least Sweaty Cities To Live In
It’s officially the first day of summer, and it’s about to get hot outside. If you live in Michigan you have less to worry about than most, because a new survey shows Michigan has two of the least sweaty cities to live in.
Of the 200 largest cities in the United States; Grand Rapids (129) and Detroit (144) were both near the bottom of the list. MyDatingAdviser.com put out their list of the ten sweatiest cities to live in, and the top ten looked like this:
- Orlando, FL
- Corpus Christi, TX
- Baton Rouge, LA
- New Orleans, LA
- Tallahassee, FL
- Houston, TX
- Montgomery, AL
- Cape Coral, FL
- Laredo, TX
- Jacksonville, FL

The site used three factors to determine the sweatiest cities to live in; weather, sweat factors and cooling off. This is how each factor was weighted:
- Weather (80 total points):
- Average summer temperature in July (20 points)
- Length of their summer season (20 points)
- Average relative humidity in July (20 points)
- # of Days above 90 degrees (20 points)
- Sweat factors (10 total points):
- How popular public transportation is (2 points)
- Exercise rate (2 points)
- Events (2 points)
- Population Density (2 points)
- Cooling Off (10 total points)
- The amount of shade (2 points)
- Bodies of water (2 points)
- Average wind speed (2 points)
- New, single parent homes with air conditioning (2 points)
The study found that all heat is no the same and that the majority of the cities at the top of the list were in places that were more humid than hot. Then they determined the weighted average of the metrics above and calculated the overall score of each city. No surprise that Florida has two of the top ten, and Michigan has two of the least sweaty cities.
