2 Michigan Cities Rank In Top Third Of Most Fattest Cities In America
WalletHub has released their annual list of the Most Obese Cities, and two Michigan cities; Detroit (33) and Grand Rapids (36) both ranked in the top third. According to their statistics over 40% of American adults due to the access to unhealthy groceries and fast food. In order to come up with the list, WalletHub ranked the following three factors; overweight and obesity, health consequences and food & fitness.
Overweight and obesity weighed in for 60 points, and took into account how many overweight people of all ages lived in each city. Health consequences accounted for 25 points, and factored various health problems in a city; high cholesterol, diabetes, high blood pressure, etc. The last factor they used was food and fitness, and included; low fruit/vegetable consumption, residents who say they live healthy, access to parks and & recreational facilities, etc. Based on all of these factors, McAllen, TX was named the fattest city in America ranking fifth in obesity, second in health consequences and fitness.
As menti0ned above, Michigan’s two largest cities Detroit and Grand Rapids ranked 33 and 36 respectively.
