(Photo by Jon Cherry/Getty Images)It’s almost the unofficial start to the summer, and AAA tow to go offers impaired Michigan drivers tow home Memorial Day weekend. For the 26th year in a row AAA is helping impaired drivers get home with their AAA Tow To Go program.
They do this multiple times per year, during big holiday weekends with the goal of keeping impaired drivers off the roads and insuring everyone gets home safely.
How Does AAA Tow To Go Work?
From 6:00 pm on Friday May 24th – 6:00 am on Tuesday May 28th if you’re out and drink too much you can get a free tow home for you and your car. All you have to do is call (855)-TOW-2-Go or (855)-286-9246, if you are impaired. One of AAA driver’s will tow you and your car home, within ten miles for free. They just ask that you tip their drivers for this free service. Which is available to AAA members as well as non-members.
Where Is AAA Tow-To-Go Available?
While the program is available in Michigan it is not available all over the country, these are the states where you can take advantage of AAA Tow To Go:
- Colorado (Denver)
- Florida
- Georgia
- Indiana (Fort Wayne/South Bend)
- Iowa
- Michigan
- Nebraska
- North Dakota
- North Carolina (Charlotte)
- Tennessee
While this program is free and available in those areas, you can’t schedule a ride ahead of time, since that’s not the intention of the program. One of my best friends has used this program before, and has said that it is really as simple as it’s described.
Your first plan should be to have a designated driver, but if you do wind up having more than you expect to, take advantage of this program since everyone deserves to get home safely. You can get more on AAA Tow To Go on AAA’s official website.
Movement Detroit. There is nothing like it. It is an iconic electronic music festival and is exclusive to Detroit on Memorial Day Weekend. People travel from all over the world to attend every year and has been going on for nearly 25 years. I mean the city has had an influential role in the development of techno as a genre so of course we have to celebrate that!
I feel so incredibly lucky as a music fan to live right here and have been able to attend for many years. Many years of completely losing yourself in the music, making friends, and dancing for hours on end. The music has this infectious energy that grabs hold of you, making you surrender to the beats and putting you in in a musical trance. Many of the songs do not have lyrics so the beat has got to be supreme and has to move your soul. You can feel it in your bones. I usually dress up each year in a different costume including a unicorn, Superwoman, a butterfly and more. Of course this is optional.
