The Morning Bounce

Feed Your Amazing Soul by Volunteering to Help Grow Fresh Food in Detroit

National Volunteer Week for 2024 kicks off the week of April 22nd! Volunteering in your community is important for so many reasons. Not only is it good for the community, but it is also good for your soul. I know for me, whenever I volunteer, I feel such a sense of purpose and fulfillment that just feels so incredibly rewarding. I try to volunteer any time that I can and I love getting the kids involved too. Why Volunteering is Important There are so many valuable reasons to volunteer. First, you can give back to your community and make a direct impact in the lives of your fellow humans. Second, it could be an opportunity for you to learn new skills and gain some great experience in an area that you may or may not be familiar with. Third, it also helps the collective by giving you the chance to volunteer with others from your community. When & Where to Volunteer with the Morning Bounce [caption id="attachment_458120" align="alignnone" width="275"] Image courtesy of Keep Growing Detroit[/caption] If you really want to volunteer & don’t know where to do so, you can join me, Shannon Renee, & Mean Jean with the Morning Bounce as we support the great organization Keep Growing Detroit. They are a great non-profit whose mission is "cultivate a food sovereign city where the majority of fruits and vegetables consumed by Detroiters are grown by residents within the city’s limits." If you'd like to see the work they do, click here. We will be out at their 1.38-acre farm in Eastern Market on Tuesday, April 23rd from 5pm-7pm. Their address is 3100 Orleans, Detroit MI 48207. If you cannot make that day to volunteer, but would still like to, click here for their schedule. We spoke to Rosebud, from Keep Growing Detroit, who explained what we will be helping with at the farm. Take a listen!
