Missy Elliot Gives Back to Families In Her Hometown
My girl, Missy Elliot, has helped out a lot of families in her hometown of Portsmouth, Virginia. Yesterday was the one year anniversary of when she received a street and a day named in her honor and her hometown. So, Missy donated $50,000 to the Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority to help families facing eviction due to back rent. She helped 26 families stay in their homes. Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman, Usher and Las Vegas City Councilman Cedric Crear pose during a ceremony honoring Usher at Las Vegas City Hall. Usher was given a proclamation and a ceremonial key to Las Vegas for his work in the local community, his “My Way” residency at Park MGM, and for his upcoming performance at halftime of Super Bowl LVIII at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
Las Vegas Celebrates Usher
Speaking of artists who’ve had days named after them, Usher is wrapping up his residency in Las Vegas and the city celebrated him by naming October 17th, Usher Raymond Day and giving him a key to the city. They said Usher has been an absolute incredible brand ambassador for Las Vegas. Usher said, “I want to thank you for your belief in the future and your ability to recognize those things that actually do grow your city. I am someone who has not just contributed by way of entertainment, but also to the heartbeat of the city.” So, that’s cool. They’re saying he’s going to extend his residency there and then, obviously, he’s playing Super Bowl half-time show in Vegas next year. So, there’s a lot happening for Usher in Sin City.
