New Transparency for Detroit Restaurants
As mentioned in Shannon’s Scoop today, big changes in transparency for Detroit Restaurants.
Starting this past Monday, nearly 2,000 Detroit restaurants are required to display new color-coded place cards, as part of the city’s “Dining with Confidence” ordinance. This initiative aims to enhance transparency and public safety by indicating an establishment’s compliance with food safety standards.
The ordinance features green, white, and red place cards:
- A green place card indicates that the establishment has passed inspections with no serious food safety violations.
- A white place card means that the establishment is pending corrections.
- A red place card signifies that the establishment is closed due to serious health risks.
This system allows customers to easily understand the hygiene status of the Detroit restaurants they choose to dine in. I think this is a great move, ensuring we know the places serving our food are handling it properly. I’m all for it. Get your affairs in order if you’re going to be feeding people!
