Making Movement Music Festival A Family Affair
The other day, I realized this year’s Movement Music Festival would be the first time I’d bring my daughter. It feels surreal. For years, Movement has been my personal tradition—a celebration of music, love, and community. I’ve been attending with my boyfriend-turned-husband every year, and now we get to share it with our sweet baby girl. Believe it or not, Movement is surprisingly kid-friendly.
Kids 12 and under enjoy free admission to the festival when accompanied by a parent, which is just another reason I’ve always admired the inclusive vibe. I used to walk around and see parents with their little ones wearing noise-canceling headphones, dancing, and soaking up the energy. Last year, in the VIP section, I even chatted with a mom nursing her baby while getting drip hydration. She was so kind, giving me all the tips for bringing a baby to a festival, knowing I was pregnant then.
This year’s lineup makes me even more excited to introduce my daughter to the techno life early. Carl Cox’s Hybrid Live Set and John Summit closing out the weekend are going to be incredible moments. And with artists like Jamie xx, DJ Minx, and Chase & Status making appearances, it’s a lineup that bridges the legends with rising stars.
Hart Plaza has always been a place of connection for me, and now it will hold an even deeper meaning as I share it with my little family. Movement isn’t just about the music; it’s about creating memories. I can’t wait to dance with my husband, watch my daughter soak up the sights and sounds, and feel the heartbeat of Detroit’s iconic techno scene together.
The Movement Music Festival, a cornerstone of Detroit’s electronic music scene, has unveiled an electrifying preview of its 2025 lineup, headlined by Techno legend Carl Cox and dance music superstar John Summit.
