While Oprah was speaking to the crowd, she learned that $1.15 million had been raised and then announced that she would personally match what had already been raised with $1.15 million of her own money.

Sprinter Allyson Felix now has more gold medals than Usain Bolt with 12 world titles and ladies, you'll want to celebrate the fact that she earned her latest gold medal as a mom!
Felix gave birth to a daughter in November at 32 weeks via emergency C-section, suffered from preeclampsia and spent her days and nights taking care of her preemie baby. She returned to sprinting and just won gold as part of the world's first mixed-gender 4x400 relay team. NBC News has her time split on the relay at 50.4 seconds.
Mixed-gender relays will debut in the Olympics next year. Felix will return to the Olympics for the fifth time and at 34, will hope to break Michael Johnson's record as the oldest Olympics 400m finalist. Johnson has held the record since 2000 at age 33.

Detroit Cocktail Week at Eastern Market starting TODAY through Sunday, is metro Detroit’s premier cocktail event!
The Detroit Cocktail Classic is the cocktail party of the year, encompassing two sheds in historic Eastern Market and featuring Detroit’s most celebrated drinking establishments and brands serving up craft cocktails.
VIP Early Entry Tickets ($65) include access at 6pm, 15 sample cocktails, and light appetizers.
General Admission Tickets ($40 in advance/$50 day of) include access at 7pm and 10 sample cocktails.
Attendees will be able to vote in several spirit categories with winners being announced at the Awards Ceremony on Sunday, October 6 at the Monarch Club.
Categories include: Best in Show, Best Cocktail, Best Dressed Bartender, Best Display Presentation, Best Cocktail Name, Best Service/Hospitality, and Best Spirit Brand Presentation.
Money raised will benefit O.A.T.S. (Offering Alternative Therapy with Smiles).
