Super Bowl LIV in Miami between the 49ers and Chiefs lived up to all the hype, as Patrick Mahomes led his team to a historic 31-20 comeback win in the final moments.
At halftime, both teams were tied up 10-10. The 49ers looked poised to bring home the Lombardi trophy after leading 20-10 with less than 7 minutes remaining.
Until Patrick Mahomes happened.
Mahomes became the youngest player in NFL history to win regular season MVP and Super Bowl MVP at age 24.
With 8:33 remaining, Mahomes threw a 44-yard bomb to a wide open Tyreek Hill. A few plays later, Mahomes found Travis Kelce in the endzone to notch the score to 20-17. Still, the Chiefs trailed and time was starting to run out. Luckily, so was the 49ers’ amazing effort through three quarters.
The 49ers gave up 21 points in the 4th quarter to the Chiefs.
Running Back Damien Williams scored the final touchdown, as he became the first player ever with 100+ rush yards, plus a rushing and receiving TD in a Super Bowl.
Global pop superstars Jennifer Lopez and Shakira set the stage on fire at the halftime show. Performing some of their most iconic songs like “Hips Don’t Lie” and “Jenny from the Block.”
Demi Lovato sang the National Anthem before the game and received much praise. Gospel artist Yolanda Adams also performed the “Star-Spangled Banner.”
Not only was Super Bowl LIV one of the best games in recent years, it also featured some of the best commercials. Tom Brady made an important announcement about his future.
Bill Murray remade a commercial version of his movie “Groundhog Day.”
