Click It Or Ticket Campaign
It’s Going into Memorial weekend where there will be more drivers on the road.
The Memorial Day holiday weekend marks the unofficial start of summer. For many children across the country, it also marks the start of summer vacation. We at NHTSA want to wish travelers a safe and happy summer by reminding everyone of the importance of buckling up—every trip, every time!
NEW THIS AM: @MIOHSP releases new campaign as more police hit road for #clickitorticket -- the takeaway? Buckle up, because there's people that don't want you dead. CLICK IT OR TICKET
During the Memorial Day holiday, about 10,000 law enforcement agencies nationwide will be out on the roads from May 20 through June 2 to remind drivers and passengers to buckle their seat belts. The annual Click It or Ticket campaign aims at enforcing seat belt use to help keep travelers safe as they drive to their summer destinations.
According to NHTSA, 10,076 people who were killed in passenger vehicle crashes in 2017 weren’t buckled. Fifty-five percent of those fatalities happened at night (6 p.m.–5:59 a.m.). Law enforcement will be taking a no-excuses approach to seat belt law enforcement during the Click It or Ticketcampaign, writing citations day and night. At $65.00 a ticket that’s even more reason to buckle up and keep money in your pocket.
