Michigan Governor Bans Visits to Neighbors / Travel Between Residences
Following the overnight deaths of 117 more people in Michigan, the state’s governor on Thursday ordered a ban on visits to neighbors and relatives.
Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s restrictive ban also extends her previous stay-at-home order until May 1st. In announcing the new order, Whitmer said, “All public and private gatherings of any size are prohibited” — but went on to say residents “can still leave the house for outdoor activities … as long as they’re taking place outside of six feet from anyone else.”
Residents caught violating Whitmer’s order could be fined up to $1,000, she said. “If we don’t get the health crisis under control, the economic crisis will go on and on,” Whitmer said.
Whitmer has also prohibited travel between properties that people own in the state, including vacation rentals. That goes into effect after April 10.

Do you see this restriction as necessary, or too harsh? Is forcing everyone to stay indoors the only way to beat this pandemic?
