Detroit Zoo to vaccinate gorillas, chimpanzees, tigers and lions against COVID-19
Us humans aren’t the only ones getting vaccinated!
The Detroit Zoo has announced that they are vaccinating animals against COVID-19 who are believed to be the most susceptible to the virus.
According to the zoo, gorillas, chimpanzees, tigers and lions are the first to receive doses.
According to WXYZ, the zoo is using a special vaccine that was developed exclusively for animals by veterinary pharmaceutical company Zoetis, which has been authorized on a case-by-case basis by the USDA.
There have been animals at other zoos around the country that have contracted COVID and there have been animals in other countries that have died from the virus.
As of Monday, August 30th, no COVID-19 infections have been found in animals at the Detroit Zoo.
We have to protect our animals so I’m all for getting them vaxxed up!
