Michigan Central Station Concert Tickets Available
Michigan Central Station is getting set to reopen on June 6th after being closed for 40 years. They are kicking it off with a free Michigan Central Station Concert in front of the former train station.
Which Detroit Artists Will Perform at the Michigan Central Station Concert
They still have to announce the artist line up. But they have said it will be a bunch of legendary Detroit performers. Who would be your guess? I am guessing Stevie Wonder, Martha Reeves, Smokey Robinson, The Winans, and Anita Baker. Maybe we’ll see some big current names like Big Sean, maybe Eminem?
Big Sean did perform with the Detroit Children’s Choir in June of 2018 to celebrate when the Ford Company purchased the former train station.
How to Get Tickets to the Michigan Central Station Concert
The Michigan Central Station concert will hold about 15,000 people and tickets will be available starting at noon Tuesday. But registration is first-come, first-served basis & is limited to two tickets at michigancentral.com/open. The event will also be live-streamed.
Ford Company Renovations of the Michigan Central Station
The Michigan Central Station had been sitting vacant for 40 years. That all changed when it was purchased in June of 2018 by The Ford Company. They began much needed renovations a few years ago.
According to their website, “It is an inclusive, vibrant and walkable 30 acres anchored by the iconic Michigan Central Station, with hands-on, tech-enabled innovation labs and workspaces, testing infrastructure, restaurants, retail, event and exhibition space, public art, indoor/outdoor collaborative space, and open plazas. It will connect with the surrounding neighborhoods and the city through improved gateways and preserve the history of the area with a mix of old and new.”
