Hasbro has licensed a Detroit version of the legendary Monopoly board game. Look for it later this year.
This morning on Shannon’s Scoop, we talked about a legendary board game that’s getting a Detroit-style makeover.
Mr. Monopoly, you know, the little board guy from the game, has been spotted around Detroit and there’s a good reason why. The Monopoly: Detroit Edition is going to debut this winter.
They are looking for Detroit businesses and nonprofits to be part of history and honor communities across the city. They say the Detroit Edition is going to replace the game’s famous squares, like Atlantic Avenue, with Detroit businesses, nonprofits, and landmarks. It’s also going to include custom Community Chests and Chance Cards and Monopoly money.
A representative from Tops Trump, who are helping create the game under license from Hasbro, said, “Detroit is such a unique community with a rich history. We aim to ensure that MONOPOLY: Detroit Edition accurately portrays what Detroit locals and tourists love about this charming city.”
I cannot wait. So, if you’re a business and nonprofit that wants to be part of the board, you can submit online at the link below.
Welcome to the home of the world's coolest games including Top Trumps Card Games, Collections Tins, Lexicon Go, Community Monopoly Board Games and much more. Our games are made more exciting with brands such as Harry Potter, Friends and Marvel to name just a few!
What do you think should be on the Detroit Edition of Monopoly. I think you have to have the Joe Louis Fist, the Spirit of Detroit, Hart Plaza, maybe Campus Martius. The big iconic landmarks. I’m not a big Monopoly person, but I’ll play that one for sure. You can read more about the upcoming game below.
